Virat Kohli was caught leading his under-19 team in the world cup in Malaysia in 2008 to a grand victory. Virat was giving an excellent performance while playing for Delhi in the domestic games. Seeing this he was taken into the Indian cricket team and there is no looking back after that. He was placed at various levels in the cricket team, and with never say die attitude, he outperformed keeping up the expectations of everyone. His performance is consistent over the years, shouldering the responsibility of the team.   

Virat Kohli under 19 and under 15 journey

Virat Kohli’s first match was for the Polly Umrigar trophy in the category of under 15 in October 2002. His score was the highest i.e. 172 with an average of 34.40. By the next tournament he played, he was taken as captain of the Delhi under-15 team. He scored 390 runs in 5 innings with two centuries and two fifties. Kohli was then selected for the under-17 Vijay Merchant trophy in 2004.  His score was 470 runs in 4 matches. Next tournament, he helped his team win with 757 runs from 7 matches.

With appreciation and awards from under-17 matches, he was called up for an under-19 match to England. He scored 115 runs in three matches against England. Virat performed very well in under-19 matches and impressed everyone. He was then called up to play ODI in 2008 against Sri Lanka. The journey thus began to becoming King Kohli.

Virat Kohli test match journey

Virat has achieved 28 test centuries and seven double centuries so far. He has the highest number of 150-plus scores in test matches. Virat as a captain also holds some records. He won the Icc Test mace five times as a captain. As a captain, he has six double-centuries in test matches. He broke Brian Lara’s record of five double centuries as a captain. As a test captain, he played 113 innings scoring 5864 runs, out of which twenty were hundreds and 18 were the fifties. He crossed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in scoring the most number of double centuries in test matches. He scored the most test runs in the calendar year 2018.

ODI journey

Virat on 10 December 2022 achieved his 72nd international century against Bangladesh beating Ricky Ponting who has 71 centuries to his name. Rahul Dravid scored 10000 ODI runs in 10 years by playing 317 days, and Virat achieved 10000 ODI runs by just playing 10 years and 68 days. He scored the most number of ODI runs in the calendar year 2018. Virat scored the most ODI runs compared to any Indian cricketer in the calendar years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. He was awarded ODI player of the year in 2012, and 2017. He was awarded the ODI best team of the year 2017 as a captain.

T20 journey

In t20 matches, Virat is the first Indian to surpass 10000 runs. He is the second-fastest cricketer to achieve 1000 runs in T20s. He is the first Indian cricketer to cross 10000 runs in T20s.

IPL journey

In the ninth edition of IPL, he scored 973 runs in a single session.  He is the first batsman to reach 6000 runs in IPL.

Virat Kohli Personal life

About Virat Kohli’s personal life, he is 34 years old and is married to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. They got married in December 2017. They have a kid named Vamika.

Virat popularly known as King Kohli won many matches for India single-handedly. In the test, ODI, and t20 matches altogether, Virat scored more than 20000 runs. Virat won the Sir Garfield Sobers trophy in 2017, and 2018. He was awarded ICCs men’s player of the month after his excellent performance in the Asia cup 2022 and in the ICC T20 world cup 2022. He scored 11 centuries in 2017 in all formats of the game scoring 3000 runs. Virat was awarded Padmashri in 2017. He was given arjuna award in 2013 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2018.

The last century of Viral Kohli was very exciting. By scoring 186 in the 4th test series in the last match against Australia played by the Indian team, Viral Kohli yet again proved his worth. This was his 28th test century and he waited 3 years to get it. Kohli broke many records while playing his last century. He became the third-fastest Indian to score 4000 runs on Indian soil. He also broke Brian Lara’s record by becoming the second Batsman to achieve more scores against Australia. Virat was given the player of the match for his score. He continues to shower his grace on the field by hitting centuries and standing by the team in times of need. Virat Kohli’s centuries will always be looked up to as they are full of grace and action.
